"Detroit-bred singer-songwriter MoZella seamlessly blends pop, soul, and jazz into her carefully crafted tales of life and love. Her charismatic vocals and charming personality have earned her the reputation as a fresh alternative to formulaic pop artists. Her songs have been featured in several television series including One Tree Hill, Las Vegas, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Wildfire, Lipstick Jungle, as well as many others. In addition, she wrote and recorded the song “Amazed,” which was used in a national Mercedes-Benz television commercial. Most recently, her songs have been featured in MTV's The Hills, MTV's The City, Fox's Fringe, Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, Lifetime's Sherri, ABC's Castle, and ABC's Modern Family. Her song "Magic (Oh Oh Oh)" was used in the Verizon Droid commercial, which instantly became a viral hit on the internet, receiving nearly 1 million views in its first week. MoZella's new album, Belle Isle, with its big hooks, smart lyrics, and infectious beats, is now available through Universal/Motown Records."

Staff writer Libby listened to some tracks off MoZella's debut album I Will. Here's what she thought:

Light Years Away

A sweet ballad, reflecting about how the singer can never go back, and about how she wouldn't want to, even if she could. Hey, we've all been there. I like the light, soft refrain. It's reminiscent of any stream of consciousness experienced while appreciating something beautiful, and in the moment, alone. . . probably outside, too.

Amnesia
Sounding like a Toby Lightman, MoZella displays her sassy side. She yearns, as we all have, for a day "before I met you." It's peppy, fun, with hints of angst thrown in, sweet as she is. Even she can't help but rag on a worthless past lover (Suck it, boys). "And all I need is piece of mind/I wanna put it behind/ Quit wastin my time" she sings.

You Wanted It
"Sweet and low and to the point/ You always get your way/ But I've long run out of any thoughts and words to fill the space" sings MoZella. She laments that her relationship rests/rested entirely on her guy. "It's sad that I evened the score/ Once and for all", she croons in laid-back strains of memories and instances.

Can't Stop
A song about addicted love of the head-over-heels variety. This song full of honest confessions brings to every listener's mind their own falling-in-love montage. In a tide of back and forth, swaying melody, she sings "You speak to my soul like you've known it before/ And I just can't stop." Like I said, montage.

Say It Ain't So
A fantastic re-make of the Weezer classic, MoZella's version starts out beyond mellow, then breaks strongly into the melody. Passionate strings of melody soar above the intermittent refrains of desperation. The listener can truly feel her anguish when she begs "Say it ain't so!"
